The Valencia CF goalkeeper speaks on VCF Media Radio to talk about the match against the Basque side and the signing of Unai Núñez
Valencia CF played versus Celtic Football Club in the first leg of the round of 32 tie in the UEFA Europa League at Celtic Park at 9 pm kick-off time (8 pm) BST in Glasgow, Scotland on Thursday night.
Valencia CF had a positive start to the match looking to hit Celtic on the break. The first chance came in the 18th minute with a top corner bound header from Wass tipped around by the keeper. Daniel Wass tested the keeper again with a long-range shot over the halfway mark in the match but it was comfortably saved by the keeper.
Denis Cheryshev gave Valencia CF the breakthrough following a well-worked collective move which was started off by Parejo who knocked it on behind the Celtic Football Club defence into Rubén Sobrino who put it on a plate to Denis Cheryshev who poked it in on 41 minutes.
The first half finished 1-0 for Valencia CF who got a significant away goal into half time at Parkhead.
Valencia CF were off to a dream start with an early second-half goal in pretty similar fashion to the first one. Francis Coquelin won the ball and sent a brilliant ball out wide into Cheryshev who switched roles with Rubén Sobrino to hand him his debut goal for Valencia CF. An easy tap-in to double VCF’s lead.
Valencia CF came close to making it three goals to the good through Gameiro and dangerous arrivals into the box. The match finished 0-2 for Valencia CF who take a significant two-goal lead into the second leg at Mestalla on the 21st of February. Valencia CF will welcome RCD Espanyol on Sunday 17th of February at 4.15 pm at Mestalla on matchday 24 of LaLiga Santander.

Observations: First leg of the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League played at Celtic Park before 60,400 spectators, with around 400 Valencia CF fans in the stands. Before the game, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Emiliano Sala and the players wore bracelets in their memory. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin was in the box.
